Our Summer Garden

You may have noticed that a lot of work has been put in to making the front garden a colourful and relaxing place to spend time. The spate of warm weather and the rain showers has really brought the flowers out.

We are looking forward to spending more time outside when the weather gets warm again. We hope this will be a pleasant place for our residents to spend time on the patio with their relatives and friends.

We would also like to host some of our activities outside when the weather is better. The next Memory Cafe will hopefully be held outside. We can also look at hosting things such as flower arranging etc.

We would love to hear your suggestions for some outdoor activities.

Upcoming Activities

We have lots of activities coming up over the next few weeks for our residents and their family/friends.

Today we will be holding our Residents & Relatives Forum. This is an opportunity for residents and their family/friends to sit down with us and share suggestions, discuss matters of concern and feedback to staff on how we can better support everyone at Holly Bank. These sessions are of great value because we can ensure that we are doing what we can to make sure all of our residents are happy and enjoying their time at Holly Bank.

Next up we have Musical Bingo on Thursday 3rd May. Jenny from Musicures will be running this. This is the first time we will be trying the musical bingo but we are sure it will go down well. Jenny's shows are enjoyed by everyone here and they get everybody singing along. We shall let you know how it goes!!

We shall be celebrating the Royal Wedding on Saturday 19th May, with an afternoon tea. Families and friends are welcome to come along and enjoy some homemade cake and a cuppa, whilst watching the Royal Wedding on TV. We are sure it will be an enjoyable afternoon for everyone.

Each week we have a gentle yoga session with Wondeful You Yoga. Gail comes along and takes the residents through a gentle armchair yoga session and a guided meditation. Yoga and meditation are a great way to get some physical activity and to also help reduce stress and anxiety.

We also have a monthly "Praise and Worship" session with Leyland Road Methodist Church. Reverend Michael Ogwuche says prayers with our residents and sings hymns with them. Family and friends are welcome to come along and join in. Keep an eye out for posters with the next date on.

With the weather hopefully set to get warmer, we shall be looking at putting on some trips out to Hesketh Park. We would love to get everyone who wishes to participate, out into the sunshine and getting some fresh air. Anyone who has an interest in taking part in these trips, please let Cassie or Ann know.

Keep an eye on the blog for new posts about what has been happening at Holly Bank.

April Music Show

Yesterday, 4th April, Jenny from Musicures joined us to perform some old classic songs.

Jenny has done quite a few shows for us here at Holly Bank, and she is definitely a favourite amongst the residents.

Everyone joined in with a sing-along. Especially Frank who knew all the words to every song......

Peter had a little dance. And our carers, Danni and Emily, were renamed the new 'Little Mix.'

We look forward to future shows with Jenny over the coming year. Keep an eye out for posters with new dates.
